Supporting Individuals with Special Needs

Individuals with specific needs due to an intellectual or physical disability can live more independently with the right kind of support system. Increasingly, technology is an effective tool to provide the individual, and their caregivers, with the confidence to live their life to the fullest. Whether it’s your patient or your family member that you are taking care of, CreateAbility’s offerings provide respectful monitoring and alerts wherever they call home.

Autism

CreateAbility offers solutions for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder level one and two as defined by the official diagnostic manual (DSM-5). Our solutions combine an individual with autism’s need for structure with supports that improve communication skills and social interactions. Stability through schedule builds independence in both work and home environments.

  • Independence Builder: fosters independence for people with intellectual developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome or autism
  • MeMinder: talking picture to-do list
  • Mobile Avatar Coach: for those with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health issues
  • Affectus: a guided series for development of behavioral health skills
  • WhenWear Advisor: for supervisors (coming soon)

Down syndrome or Fragile X

A person with Down syndrome or Fragile X may need extra support from family or professional caregiver to live an independent life as possible. CreateAbility’s solutions address common difficulties that emerge concerning an individual with Down syndrome such as accurately taking medication, attention and sequencing problems, and wandering away from supervision.

  • Independence Builder: fosters independence for people with intellectual developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome or autism
  • MeMinder: talking picture to-do list
  • SmartMed: remote medication management
  • CareTrak: elopement detection

Brain injury

A change in brain function can have a dramatic impact on the individual’s emotions, motor skills, and memory. These injuries can happen when an individual sustains a traumatic brain injury, such as a blow to the head, or an acquired brain injury from a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

The scope of symptoms and disabilities that accompany a traumatic brain injury are far-reaching, but fortunately so are the possible supports for the individual and their caregivers. CreateAbility offers solutions for the individual at work, therapy, and independent living settings.

Low vision / no vision

Those with visual impairments may not have to rely on a caregiver as frequently when their independent living setting is designed specifically for them. They can make the most out of their home with CreateAbility’s accessible solutions.

Mobility impairments

Nearly all routine daily activities require an individual to freely move about wherever they call home so if your loved one or patient struggles with mobility they could also have issues physically controlling their environment. You can reduce the amount of assistance that an individual needs with CreateAbility’s solutions that use the voice rather than physical action.
